Main Roads Submerged
Sudden cloudbursts led to the submergence of main roads, causing traffic to slow down despite the efforts of traffic police and municipal teams. The Mayor of Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC), Vijayalakshmi Gadwal, stated that she is personally monitoring the situation from the "Command Control Center" located in Banjara Hills, where teams have been deployed to pump out rainwater and redirect vehicles.
Three Individuals Missing
In a tragic incident, a man named Sunny was swept away after a wall collapsed near a drain close to 44 bus stops in Parsigutta. This married father of two was last seen near Parsigutta Church, approximately half a kilometer from where his scooter was later found. Rescue teams from the disaster response force are searching along the drain's edge for manholes, but he remains missing.
In another case, two individuals, 26-year-old Arjun and 28-year-old Rama, went missing after being swept away in the Nampally area. Search operations are ongoing at both locations, with disaster response personnel inspecting manholes and nearby drains.
Residents have expressed frustration over the lack of response to repeated complaints regarding the area's poor drainage system. Shopkeepers reported that water has entered their stores, damaging goods and disrupting business. With forecasts predicting more heavy rain, residents fear that conditions could worsen if immediate measures are not taken.
